The Department of the Month Award was initiated by the Employee Recognition Committee and Staff Senate as a way to recognize each month a department on campus that stands out in a positive way, be it for sponsoring an event, providing excellent service, exercising teamwork, showing unique initiative, or for other beneficial reasons.
In December, the President of the United States, the Honorable William Jefferson Clinton, visited Kearney and a convocation was held in his honor at the Health and Sports Complex. While this event was supported by almost every individual on campus, the Public Safety Department played a major role in its coordination with the Secret Service.
For all their hard work and initiative in hosting the President, and for all they do in the regular course of their work, the UNK Staff Senate and its Employee Recognition Committee congratulate the Public Safety Department for a job well done and for upholding the university's commitment to excellence.
