The Department of the Month Award was initiated by the Employee Recognition Committee and Staff Senate as a way to recognize each month a department on campus that stands out in a positive way, be it for sponsoring an event, providing excellent service, exercising teamwork, showing unique initiative, or for other beneficial reasons.
Chartwells, as the campus food service provider, serves one million meals annually to students, faculty, staff, and patrons of events at UNK. The service utilizes a large student staff in its daily operations and provides for endowed scholarships available to its student workers. Chartwells is routinely called upon to provide service for such UNK events as Blue and Gold Days, Summer Advising and Enrollment, and Staff Appreciation Day. Additionally, during UNK holiday celebrations, Chartwells serves up an array of food and refreshments. Chartwells is a familiar part of the UNK community, and has been "feeding the campus" since 1984.
For all their hard work in providing a critical service to UNK and its students, staff, faculty, and visitors, the UNK Staff Senate and its Employee Recognition Committee congratulate Chartwells for a job well done and for upholding the university's commitment to excellence.
