The Department of the Month Award was initiated by the Employee Recognition Committee and Staff Senate as a way to recognize each month a department on campus that stands out in a positive way, be it for sponsoring an event, providing excellent service, exercising teamwork, showing unique initiative, or for other beneficial reasons.
In October, the Department of Athletics hosted the State High School Cross Country Meet, as it has done for the past several year. The event is a great activity for staff, and has become an effective way to promote UNK to high school students who are soon to be thinking about a college choice. The department also recruits colleagues from across the campus to help with the meet, allowing others in the wider UNK community to be involved in the event.
For all their hard work and for all they do in the regular course of their work, the UNK Staff Senate and its Employee Recognition Committee congratulate the Department of Athletics for a job well done and for upholding the university's commitment to excellence.
