Staff Senate Minutes - October, 1996
Present: Cel Davis, Mike Heffernan, Carleen Jurgensen, Anita Kucera, John Lakey, Kathy Livingston, Jean Mattson, Glennis Nagel, Judy Spellman and Judy Willett.
Absent: Bill Davis, Terry Fraley.
Election results: Election results were announced. Newly elected members include: Jane Sheldon, Sue Downey, Marilyn Andersen, Sue Betterman and Terry Fraley. The secretary was instructed to provide a copy of Staff Senate minutes and bylaws to the newly elected members. Outgoing members include: Cel Davis, Bill Davis, Alta Fread, and Jean Mattson.
Committees: Committee membership was discussed, and committees were told to select their chairs.
Budget request: The senate decided to keep a record of expenditures, so that a budget request can be developed.
Connections: John Lakey offered members an opportunity to participate in "Connections." Two-hour presentations were set for November 18, 20 and 25.
Interview opportunities: Staff Senate members were told that they would be given an opportunity to participate in the interview process for the vice chancellor for Business and Finance.
Orientation/mentoring: The need for a comprehensive orientation program for new staff members was discussed as was the possibility of a mentoring program.
Campus information: A variety of methods of familiarizing the campus community with Staff Senate and its mission was discussed. Judy Willett, Judy Spellman and Glennis Nagel were asked to explore the various avenues available.
