Mumm reported that the Employee Recognition Committee would be finalizing the plans at a meeting Wednesday, June 16th, at 9 a.m. in the Warner Conference Room. Anyone wanting to assist is invited to attend. Plans are for an "Employee Recognition Breakfast" from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. John Foss (Chartwells) will provide the free breakfast. Later a buffet lunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) will be available at a cost of $4.00 per person to all staff, faculty, students, and parents/visitors on campus. A skit will be provided for summer advising and enrollment and the committee will try to get some additional entertainment to be presented during the buffet lunch. Weather permitting, the events will be held in the courtyard near the Nebraskan. Facilities will setup the tables and chairs.
Certificates of appreciation will be presented to John Foss and Lionel Sanchez for their support of the "Employee of the Month" program.

- Committee Appointments.
- Architect Selection Committee
VC Haack asked that the Senate appoint someone to serve on the committee. Miller provided some background in that students were involved in helping develop information/ideas to improve or add onto the Nebraskan. They visited student unions on the other campuses. From that the Student Senate has twice passed resolutions supporting an increase in student fees to pay for an addition and/or renovation. The Regents approved that in May. Now the university needs to hire an architect to do the detailed programming/design. Coupled with that is renovation of Foster Field. A selection committee will be formed with representation from central administration, faculty, students, and staff. Committee members will be required to go over proposals (which are due Monday) from interested architect firms. There will also be interviews with a smaller select group of architects (3-5) in July before the final selection is made. Hines volunteered to represent Staff Senate.
- Announcements
- Salary Letters
Livingston asked if salary letters would be coming out soon. Lakey noted the plan is to get them out next week. Each employee will receive a sealed envelope. However they will be bundled by department and supervisors will receive a listing of their employees' salaries last year, this year, and the percent of increase. That way supervisors will know what they are handing out. The bundles will be given to the vice chancellors to distribute.
- Adjournment was at 10:55 a.m. (Fleck/McMullen)
The next meeting will be July 20, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. Art Gallery, Student.
