Business Teacher Education is a major with excellent employment opportunities because of a steady demand for business teachers. Our two degree programs prepare teachers for careers in teaching and in business:

  • teaching in public and private schools.
     
  • teaching in community colleges.
     
  • working in business and industry.
     
  • working in human service agencies.

The two teaching degrees available through Business Teacher Education include:

6-12 Career Business Teacher Education Teaching FIELD Endorsement 

The field endorsement prepares graduates to teach ALL middle school, junior high, and high school business subjects and/or manage computer networks.

6-12 Basic Business Teaching Subject Endorsement*

The basic business subject endorsement prepares graduates to teach:

  • Accounting principles.
     
  • Beginning computer technology.
     
  • Consumer skills.
     
  • Economic concepts.

*Second Subject Endorsement Required for undergraduate education majors.  If an individual has a business administration degree, a second subject endorsement is not required for the post-baccalaureate endorsement program.

Diversified Occupations Supplemental Vocational Endorsement 

The Diversified Occupations Supplemental Vocational Endorsement is offered totally online for teachers wishing to add the endorsement to their certificate.  UNK currently offers the one required class: VOED 431, Coordinating Techniques.  In addition to this vocational classes, a candidate for the endorsement must furnish proof of 1,000 hours of work experience or complete an internship class for work experience hours.
