The College of Business & Technology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney provides the opportunity for business students to obtain "hands-on" experience in their chosen fields through business internships. While internships are not new in education, in today's competitive job market, it is important for students to gain every advantage possible before embarking on a job search. One outstanding advantage has proven to be the internship.
Internships link the classroom to the work place, allowing the student to test his/her abilities in a selected field. The cost of hiring a former intern is more cost effective than recruiting and training a new employee, so for some students, the internship will result in a job following graduation. For others, the practical knowledge gained in the internship exerience will provide an advantage in the job market.
