 New Course Development Mini-Grant Opportunity! 

  

Proposals Due:    February 11, 2013  
Timeline for FIRST Course Delivery:   Within the 2013-2014 Academic Year

Funding Amount:   Stipend amount is $750 per proposed course. The maximum funds available are $3,000.

Overview:  The American Democracy Project is pleased to announce the availability of funds dedicated to supporting UNK faculty willing to develop a new general studies course, in the Portal (188), Democracy in Perspective, or Capstone (388) category, that addresses one of the followingfive American Democracy Project initiatives; a recent survey of more than 100 UNK undergraduate students indicated these five topics were of the greatest interest:    

  • eCitizenship  
  • Global Engagement (7 Revolutions Project)  
  • America’s Future: Protecting the Fiscal Health of our Democracy  
  • Political Engagement Project  
  • Deliberative Polling

  1. In addition to focusing on one of the five ADP initiatives listed immediately above, priority will be given to proposals that involve faculty from two or more academic departments (credit hours/credit hour production sharing ideas can be discussed.

     
  2. Priority will also be given to proposals that explain how the New York Times will be used in the proposed course.

     
  3. Payment of the mini-grant stipend will be made once the course is fully developed and approved by the GS Council.  All GS proposal procedural and content expectations must be satisfied (full syllabus provided, academic affairs committee, etc.). 

  

Please note that permission to offer a new general studies course ultimately hinges on gaining approval of the General Studies Council.
