The Office of University Relations

In partnership with members of the UNK community, the Office of University Relations designs, articulates, and conducts an ongoing, comprehensive, and integrated marketing and public relations program for the campus , guided by the University’s Strategic Plan. In so doing, University Relations builds public understanding of and active support for UNK, consistent with the mission of the University and its Strategic Plan.

University Relations programs and activities aim to create or support:

  • Student enrollment that is stable or growing, with improved qualitative indicators.
  • A university understood widely, regionally, nationally, and internationally, to be among the best universities of our kind.
  • A public and professional perception of UNK that centers on excellence.
  • A known-by-the-public record of service to our state by the faculty that is noteworthy and responsive to the needs of Nebraska.
  • More extensive financial support from external sources.
  • Broader operating partnerships of mutual benefit with off-campus communities within and outside of Nebraska.
  • A student body, staff, and faculty whose composition reflects the multicultural composition of the State which includes a broad representation from around the nation and the world.

In an effort to reach its objectives, University Relations brings public relations perspectives and strategies into university decision-making and planning. It provides expertise and services that improve the quality and effectiveness of the University’s communications projects and programs, which fosters an environment of open and honest communication aimed at building trust and credibility with the university’s key internal and external stakeholders.
