UNK CrossFit is a part of the UNK Wellness Program. We are located in Cushing Field house. We currently offer two classes open to the UNK community and also offer a PE 110 course during the Spring and Fall Semesters. We currently have one CrossFit Level 1 Certificate holder (Bryce Abbey, See below) that coaches all of our classes.

 Bryce Abbey


CrossFit Level 1 Coach

 Bryce Abbey is a former 4X NCAA Division II All-American wrestler at UNK. Bryce was also a scholar athlete being select three times to the NCAA Division II Academic All-American First Team. Bryce has been training CrossFit for over a year and became a CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Holder in August of 2011. Bryce works as the Employee Health and Wellness Director and Associate Lab Director in the Human Performance Lab at UNK. There he coordinates employee wellness programming, conducts research in the area of childhood obesity treatment and prevention, and has been teaching group fitness classes for over 3 years. Bryce also works with the Nebraska State Activities Association as a Wrestling Weight Management Assessor and Wrestling Official. Bryce can also be found in area high schools presenting healthy nutrition presentations to student athletes, coaches and parents. Bryce lives in Kearney with his wife, Erin, their son, Kade (4), and daughter, Sloane (2). Bryce has lived in Kearney for the past 11 years and enjoys all of the recreational opportunities that the community provides for him and his family.
