The mission of the UNK Employee Health and Wellness Program is to provide an organized program intended to assist employees in making positive voluntary behavior changes. Reducing health risks and enhancing individual morality will create a positive, health work environment and community.
During Screen-Free Week, we are encouraging Buffalo County children and adults to spend seven days screen-free. The "Join the Movement - Unplug" initiative is specifically focused on reducing leisure screen time, which is any time spent with screens that is not required for work or school. Instead of watching TV or playing video games, they read, play, think, create, get physically active, and spend more time with friends and family.
Studies show that adults and children who watch less TV are more likely to read well, be physically fit and be at lower risk for disease. Turning off screens also allows for more family time. Many parents choose to join their children in forgoing screen-based entertainment all week long and engage in other fun activities. Many adults spend almost their entire work day in front of a screen and Screen-Free week is a great way to discover alternate fulfilling activities to participate in.
Below is the tracking card that you can fill out and return to be entered in to win prizes! Please fill out the tracking card and return it to your work site wellness coordinator the week of May 7. Drawing for prizes will be held May 14th and winners will be contacted individually. You can also submit a pledge form online at www.activatebuffalocounty.org!
