Dr. Young graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in
Richmond, Virginia with a PhD in social work. His dissertation focused on the
current status of social media use among nonprofit human service organizations.
Dr. Young graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Masters degree in
Social Work and a Masters degree in Public Administration, and from Brigham
Young University-Idaho with a Bachelors degree in Social Work. Dr. Young has
worked in a range of areas within social work from mental health and counseling
to program evaluation. Before joining UNK, he worked as an adjunct faculty
member at VCU and assisted with the development of the online Distance
Education MSW program. In addition to social work education, Dr. Young’s
research interests include nonprofit organizations, technology, community
engagement, and capacity building.
