Students Rights

The Social Work Department reinforces the professional values and ethics as outlined by the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics.  The department declares its commitment to equal educational opportunities that respect the diversity of all people.  The Department shall not discriminate against anyone based on upon age, class, color, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, immigration status, political ideology, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.


Additionally, the department follows and reinforces the policies and procedures that are established by the University of Nebraska at Kearney to safeguard the rights of all students and to enforce their responsibility.  The policies address the following areas:

  • UNK Student Code of Conduct
  • Equal Educational Opportunity
  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Non-Discrimination Policy
  • Sexual Harassment Policy
