The Student Social Work Organization (SSWO)

SSWO Photo
SSWO is dedicated to promoting the educational and professional needs of social work students and exemplifying social work ethics and values. SSWO maintains this dual focus by enhancing the educational experience of social work students outside of classroom learning through organized educational activities, while promoting professional development through volunteerism and community service. The organization is operated by students with support of the UNK Social Work Program and its faculty. Organizational membership is open to all students who wish to join their peers in an informal setting where they can implement the knowledge and skills they gained through social work education and benefit the community. SSWO sponsors the annual social work conference, organizes fund-raisers for human service organizations, invites guest speakers, and puts together many fun celebrations. Students are strongly encouraged to join SSWO and consider a leadership role within the organization.
