Dr. Benjamin Malczyk

Biography

Dr. Ben Malczyk is an Assistant Professor who joined the department in 2015. Ben completed his graduate work at the University at Albany, State University of New York, where he earned a PhD in Social Welfare, an MSW and a graduate certificate in online teaching.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in marriage, family and human development from Brigham Young University.  Ben has conducted research and participated in policy work related to schools in high risk neighborhoods.  Ben's primary research interests include familial influences on adolescent behavior and wellbeing, competency-based education, and online education as a means of achieving social justice.

Ben has taught Social Work with Organizations & Communities, Introduction to Social Welfare, Social Policy and Programs, Diversity and Social Justice, and Social Media, Digital Activism and eCitizenship.
