Making changes to a previously approved research project?
Any change in a
study that affects human subjects must be reviewed and approved by the IRB.
If your research project
has been approved by the IRB, but you find you need to make changes, you must
have the changes approved by the IRB.
You cannot initiate the modifications to the project until the IRB
approves the changes. The exception is
where an immediate change is necessary to eliminate a hazard to the subjects. Researchers
should submit all revisions in writing by using the Request for Change in Protocol form.
Be sure to complete the entire form, obtain the necessary signatures,
and include all materials that will be revised (for example, the survey that
contains changes in wording).
The Change in Protocol form is located in the Forms drop-down menu at the top of the web page.
