Welcome to the Department of Psychology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney

Psychology is the scientific investigation of behavior and mental processes. It is not only an academic discipline, but also a profession. There are both academic psychologists who engage in teaching and research and practicing psychologists who apply psychological knowledge in clinics, businesses, and other settings. UNK's psychology program is designed to prepare you take the next steps in a career in psychology.

At UNK you will experience a dedicated award-winning faculty whose main focus is on undergraduate education. The department believes that the best way to learn about psychology is by doing psychology and thus we provide opportunities for undergraduate research and practicum/internship experiences to enhance your education. The department prides itself on the fact that 76% of our graduates have presented a paper or poster at a regional or national psychology conference.

Many psychology majors at UNK continue academic study and obtain advance degrees in psychology or other related disciplines. Psychology majors are also well prepared to pursue a variety of careers immediately after graduation having developed skills that employers find highly desirable.

I invite you to explore the world of psychology at UNK. Browse our website and don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
