People who study comparative politics and international relations focus on political systems in other countries, and how the relationships among nations influence the lives of people around the world. Important questions driving inquiry in this subfield include:
- How do human beings behave in a quickly changing global environment?
- How do the forces of globalization affect mass behavior?
- How does the growing power of China affect world affairs?
- Does the growth of China inevitably lead to war with the United States?

“It is really fun to teach students how they can ask important questions in political science. This is a fun part of political science. The process of trying to answer these questions may not be easy, but it is rewarding when I see students making progress in their research projects. My job is to teach students how to conduct research in political science. I am so happy when students tell me that they would like to explore more issues in the world.
