About the Musical Theatre Degree Program

On Campus

A Musical Theatre degree will train you as a “triple threat” in performance skills. At the center of this curriculum is a core of music classes, supported by strong secondary areas in theatre and dance.

Musical Theatre students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney have opportunities to participate in performances every semester of enrollment, including musicals, main stage theatre productions, student or faculty choreographed dance concerts, choir and other ensembles.

Students who are looking to pursue this degree should prepare themselves for collegiate study through pre-college music studies that build basic musicianship (voice and piano), participate in plays and musicals at their school or community theatre and should pursue dance study.
