Jayoung Hong has performed around the world as both a soloist and a collaborative pianist.

This upcoming 2017-18 season, Jayoung will perform solo recitals at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and the Heyri Festival in Korea in addition to collaborative performances at the Carnegie Hall Festival in New York and the Salzburg Dom festival in Austria.

Recent solo recital appearances have included Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall(Young Artists Showcase presented by New York Concert Artists), Pretoria City Hall in S.Africa, Taipei National Hall in Taiwan, the Kulturhaus Konzertsall in Berlin, “Mayfest” in Canada, New Caledonia festival in Noumea, St. James's Piccadilly Recital Series in London(England), and Isang Yun's Memorial Hall recital in Korea.

Dr. Hong has won the New York Concerti Sinfonietta International Concerto Competition, New York Concert Artists&Associates Rising Artist Award, Concours International Musical de France, and the IBLA Grand Prize International Competition in Italy (Grieg Award).

In her native country S.Korea, Dr. Hong has given solo recitals at prestigious venues such as Seoul Arts Center, Sejong Arts Center, Kum-ho Art Hall, and Busan Arts Center.

Dr. Hong has worked with conductors such as Eph Ehly, Greg Gilpin, Rollo Dilworth, and Renee Clausen performing at venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium-Perelman Stage in New York City since 2007 annually.

As a lauded collaborative artist, she has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia at many events including the Salzburg Mozarteum Summer Music Festival, Salzburg Dom Festival (Austria), Busan Maru International Festival (Korea), Heyri Art Valley Festival (Korea), Aspen Festival(Colorado), All-State Festival(Missouri, Kansas, Idaho, Nebraska), North Dakota ACDA Festival, Brandon University Clarinet Festival (Canada), Prague Conservatory Summer Institute, Cass Piano Duo and International Tuba Euphonium conference. 

Dr. Hong’s concerto appearances have included the Korean Symphony Orchestra, Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Chamber Ensemble, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra (Merkin Hall - Evening of Piano Concerti Series), NYCA-New York Concert Artists and Associates Symphony Orchestra, University of Kansas City Conservatory Symphony Orchestra; Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, and Lee’s Summit Symphony(Missouri).

Dr. Hong joined the music faculty at the University of Nebraska at Kearney during the fall of 2015.  She formerly served on the piano faculty of the Korea National University of Arts in Seoul, Busan National University of Education in Busan, and Brandon University Eckhardt-Gramatte Conservatory of Music in Canada.     

She spends her summer teaching piano at the Brandon University Summer Piano Camp in Canada, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Kim International Piano Camp as a Pre-College program coordinator, Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute and Dr. Hong is the founder and director of Gangwon Do Woonhak Piano Camp in Korea.

Her students are consistently top prizewinners at major regional, provincial, and national Canadian, Korean, and U.S. competitions.

She holds a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Kansas and has completed her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Missouri-­Kansas City Conservatory of Music (UMKC) and has spent time studying at Indiana University in Bloomington as well.

During her time as a student at UMKC and KU she received the Pi Kappa Lambda, Chancellor's Award, Graduate Scholarship and the Women's Scholarship Award.
