Franziska Brech

Biography

Franziska B. Brech, a native of Munich, Germany, has presented recitals in Austria, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Slovenia, and the USA, after finishing a performance degree at the Robert-Schumann Institute for Music in Düsseldorf, Germany, studying with Michael Faust. She has been a member of several symphony orchestras in Germany as well as in the United States.

Currently, she teaches flute and German at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and is a member of the Kearney Symphony Orchestra as well as the Highfalutin flute group, and The Trans-Nebraska Players, an ensemble with members from three Nebraska music institutions, UNK, University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Chadron State College (flute, violin, viola, cello and piano). In August 2011 and 2013, she performed at the National Flute Association Convention in Charlotte, N.C. and New Orleans respectively as well as at the First Canadian National Flute Convention in Oakville, Canada. Since 2010, she has been a contributing author of the German flute magazine Flöte aktuell.

Together with her UNK German 200 and 201 classes she publishes the online German newsletter UNK Deutsch. She is a member of the Alpha Mu Gamma National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society.
