Master of Arts in Education - Music Education

Welcome to the UNK Music Department MAE - Music Education Program website!

The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance offers its graduate music program to serve three main purposes:

  1. Provide music courses for teachers who seek a MAE - Music Education degree program;
  2. Make available a variety of courses for those students who do not wish to pursue an advanced degree; and
  3. Provide experiences for graduate students which will serve their cultural and professional needs.

At least one music course will be available each fall and spring semester with three to four music courses offered each summer. Several non-music courses are available each fall, spring, and summer. Courses that meet the degree program requirement will be offered within a three year period.

The program is entirely online and consists of 36 credit-hours of courses:

  • 12 credit hours - Music Core Curriculum
  • 18 credit hours - Music Education Support Courses
  • 6 credit hours - Electives
