With the start of a new year, tax information from the Internal Revenue Service and Nebraska Department of Revenue begins to arrive.
As in past years, the Calvin T. Ryan Library has paper tax forms available. Forms are on display racks located on the Library's second floor, north side, in front of the government documents collection.
Basic forms and instructions include the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, several numbered forms, and schedules.
Nebraska tax booklets for individuals are also available.
The Library has "Publication 1132, Reproducible Tax Forms" and "Publication 1194, Taxpayer Information Publications". These are located in the Government Documents Reference Collection:

Because of late changes by Congress to the alternative minimum tax, the IRS has cautioned taxpayers who use certain forms to delay filing until after February 11. The forms are: Form 8863, "Education Credits", Form 5695, "Residential Energy Credits", Schedule 2, "Child and Dependent Care Expenses for Form 1040A" filers, and Form 8396, "Mortgage Interest Credit".
