This summer the Ryan Library replaced Expanded Academic ASAP with Academic OneFile (both published by Gale).
Academic OneFile indexes 10,000 peer reviewed journals, of which 4000 are full text. In contrast, Expanded Academic ASAP indexes 2100 peer reviewed journals (3500 titles altogether, of which 2500 are full text). While Expanded Academic's coverage of the research literature is very good, Academic OneFile's is five times larger. Academic OneFile focuses almost exclusively on scholarly, peer reviewed journals; Expanded Academic covers magazines as well as journals. Magazines can be valuable sources of information; fortunately all Expanded Academic's content is also available in InfoTrac OneFile.
There are links to both Academic OneFile and InfoTrac OneFile on the "General Indexes to all subjects" menu as well as the "Alphabetical List of Indexes."
Academic OneFile is a valuable addition to the Library's full text, periodical collection. According to data from Serials Solutions, provider of Article Linker, the Ryan Library now subscribes to 29,722 full text periodical resources (not all these are newspapers, magazines, or journals, however). To search for a specific title in our full text collection, use the "List of Full Text Magazines, Journals and Newspapers," which is located at the top of the "Find Articles" menu.
