Scholarships

The Honors Program has two application deadlines: November 15 and February 10.

Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub Scholarship

Applicants with an ACT of 30 or higher, and a high school grade point average of at least 3.85, are eligible to apply for the Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub scholarship. This is UNK’s most prestigious scholarship, which pays tuition, books, room, board, and university fees for four years. This application must be submitted by November 15. About 40 students will be invited to campus for interviews in early December. In addition to the Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub scholarship, other scholarships may be awarded to students who participate in interviews.

Holistic Application to Honors Program

Applicants with a high school grade point average of at least 3.75 should apply by February 10. Applications will be reviewed for academic accomplishment, and excellence in leadership, community service, perseverance, and talent. About 100 students will be invited to campus for interviews in late February. Admission decisions and scholarship offers will be sent by mid-March to students who participate in interviews.

For both deadlines, the process is the same. The first step is to apply and be admitted to UNK. Then the student should complete the application to the Honors program. This application (along with a letter of reference) constitutes your scholarship application. You may also email a high school transcript and a resume for your application file.
