Admission Requirements 

Admittance to the Honors program is by invitation of the Director and is based upon the following requirements:

  • First-time freshmen must normally have a minimum ACT score of 27 or above, rank in the top 25% of their high school class, complete a written essay, and provide one academic letter of recommendation.
  • Upon completion of 12 credit hours, students who have at least 24 hours left in their General Studies curriculum can apply for admission to the Honors Program. These students must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and complete the Honors Program application online at http://www.unk.edu/academics/honors/Apply_to_Honors_Program/ 
  • Transfer students must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA from their former university or college and complete the regular application process, including one letter of reference, transcripts, and a written essay.
