Middle School and High School Resources

The CN AHEC provides multiple events, shadowing opportunities, and trainings to middle and high school students. The center serves the regional schools by coordinating a Health Careers Club accessible to students once a month.

Students during this time should learn as much as they can about different health fields. The Health Careers Book is a wonderful resource to read through in becoming more familiar with health professions in the state of Nebraska. Additionally, students should consider reviewing programs available in the state and scholarship funding for each program. Completing HIPAA training and shadowing health care practitioners is a great way to see the daily work. If you are unable to shadow, doing an informational interview by asking questions about the practitioner's job either in person or over the phone can help you decide whether field is right for you.
