Long term shadowing opportunities are available for students seriously seeking a particular program. Students may shadow for up to 20 hours at Good Samaritan.
UNK has a limited number of shadowing positions reserved at Good Samaritan Hospital in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and radiography.
Other areas may be available, but positions are not guaranteed. Contact Janice Coon at 865-7091 for availability.
Short term shadowing (under 8 hours) is allowed only for professions where other shadowing opportunities outside the hospital setting are not available – such as respiratory therapy and medical technology.
- Contact your advisor to reserve a position; they are on a first come first serve basis. Obtain a student information sheet and a shot verification form (Health Information Sheet). Take the shot form to Student Health to verify your shot records and ask for a copy of your immunization record.
- Important Note: A TB test within the past 12 months is required for you to shadow. The Health Information Sheet, including the shot verification form is not necessary for short-term shadowing under 8 hours total.
- Mail, deliver, attach to an email, or fax your completed shot verification form, a copy of your immunization record, and the completed student information sheet to Janice Coon in the GSH Education Department a minimum of TWO WEEKS PRIOR to when you would like to begin your shadowing experience.
- Important Note: Incomplete forms and records will delay your shadowing arrangement.
