Non-Compliance Policy

Non-compliance is a violation of university and the federal regulations for the protection of human subjects.

The IRB has the authority to suspend or terminate previously approved research that is not conducted in accordance with the IRB's requirements, research that has not been approved by the IRB, or research that has been associated with unexpected harm to participants.  Researcher non-compliance is reported to the researcher’s supervisor and to the Office for Human Research Protection (OHRP) in the event of serious or continuing non-compliance.

Failure to comply may be formally reported to the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and/or the Faculty Senate Professional Conduct Committee for disciplinary action.
