What are Loper Leaders?
Loper Leaders are a vital part to the success of all new students’ as they transition to college life at UNK during Blue & Gold Welcome Weekend events. Loper leaders are students who demonstrate leadership qualities, work as a team, and can engage in conversation with new students.

What will I do as a Loper Leader?
Loper Leaders are the definition of what it means to be a UNK student and a Proud Loper. Loper Leaders are students who demonstrate leadership qualities, work as a team with others, can engage in conversation with new students, and show Loper pride. Each Loper Leader will be partnered with other leaders and will escort new student to a variety of activities throughout the weekend. Loper Leaders will serve as campus guides, facilitate intentional interactions with new students, answer questions and engage each student in the planned weekend events.

Application Information:
Applicants should have qualities ranging from good communication skills, a team-centered attitude, leadership experience, time management skills, and Loper pride. Applications are available at the First Year Program Office (MSAB Room 174), UNK Welcome Desk, Student Bulletin and online.
 
Position Expectations:
  • Attend a welcome meeting in April (TBA).
  • Leaders will be able and expected to move in to their residence hall/off-campus place on Thurday, August 22, 2013. 
  • Participate in a required training held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 10:00-3:00. Lunch will be provided.
  • Responsibilities start Friday, August 22, 2013 at approximately 3:00 pm and will conclude Sunday, August 25, 2013 at approximately 3:00 pm.
  • T-shirt will be provided for student to wear during Blue and Gold Welcome Week.
  • Leaders are strongly encouraged to be part of the 2013 Move-In Crew.
  • Due to timing and job responsibilities Resident Assistants are ineligible to apply. Training begins on Thursday, August 22, 2013.
