Ruth Behlmann

Biography

Ruth Behlmann began working for UNK in Student Health Services in 1991, shortly after the school’s transition to UNK.  In 1998 she brought her expertise to the English Department where she keeps the office running smoothly and assists administration, faculty, and students achieve excellence in education.  Ruth, originally from Missouri, and her husband, Dennis, have four children and six grandchildren. In addition, she is a photographer whose prints have been published and also sell at local art and craft shows, and she is in the process of writing not only a family history but nonfiction articles to accompany her photography.

Since being a part of UNK, Ruth has met such famous people as Zig Ziglar, Tillie Olsen, Nebraska’s Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, and Lakota Writer, Joseph Marshall III.  All have left their words of wisdom and motivation to live by.

Zig Ziglar, Author and Speaker:
“You can have anything in the world you want if you’ll just help enough other people get what they want”.

When first meeting Tillie, and telling her I was just the Secretary, she told me that she had once been a Kelley Girl and said, “You are never just anything…”
