Length of Program:  Length of Program:  The usual time to complete these hours is 2 ½ to 3 years.  Up to six credits received from previous coursework can apply toward the degree for up to 10 years depending on the content or the class.  

Prerequisites: Must hold a current valid Special Education endorsement with two years of experience as a Special Education Teacher.  Endorsements in School Psychology and Speech Pathology are considered as special education endorsements and serving as a school psychologist and speech pathologist is considered to be teaching experience. 


The Master of Arts in Education – Supervisor of Special Education is designed to provide the necessary background to serve as a Supervisor of Special Education. This program meets the requirements for Administrative and Supervisory Certification in Nebraska. Students pursuing certification in other states must check with their State Department of Education for certification.

All courses are accessed through Blackboard and a high-speed Internet connection is required.

Also needed:  Microsoft Office suite.  Once a student, you can order this program package from UNK Technology Store at a discounted student rates.

Books are required in most courses.  Most books be ordered through UNK campus bookstore, The Antelope Bookstore or at Amazon (www.amazon.com).
