The Master in Education – Art Education: Museum Education Emphasis is designed to meet the needs of those individuals who are pursuing a career in Museum education.  The program provides opportunities for students who hold a BA or BS degree in Art Education, BFA, BA or a BS in a Visual Arts degree program, Art History and Museum Studies. Museums of the 21st century are evolving. They are increasing in number, expanding in size, and becoming virtually available. Practical approaches are needed for incorporating contemporary art into curricula. This program explores museum education through dynamic discussions about readings on art, visual literacy through interpretation of culturally relevant images, museums, and curricula; engages in gallery activities and group discussions with opportunities for studio projects; and, creates new information and materials for classroom use. This degree does not grant certification to teach art in K-12 schools.
