Early Entry

The University of Nebraska at Kearney encourages high school students whose maturity, achievement, aptitude and goals warrant special consideration to seek early entry. The program provides an accelerated educational opportunity with UNK credit being granted. Acceptance is contingent upon a recommendation from a high school official. Students seeking early entry must complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission and submit the admissions application fee of $45.00. Early entry students may enroll for a maximum of six hours per semester and a total of 16 semester hours prior to completion of their high school requirements. Students may enroll in on-campus courses or distance education courses. Tuition is at a discounted rate of $225 for a 3 credit hour course (subject to change in Fall 2012).

Steps to get started?

1. Select the course(s) you are interested in and determine if you meet the prerequisites. You may need to contact the department. You may view the course listings at http://myblue.unk.edu.
2.  Contact your guidance counselor for a letter of recommendation. 
3. Complete an admission form online athttps://admit.nebraska.edu/applyUNK/login.action. If you have questions about admissions, call 1-800-KEARNEY. 
4. You will receive an acceptance letter when your application is processed. 
5. After being accepted, contact Diana Jones at 308-865-8527 or jonesdi@unk.edu. Once your advising session is complete, Diana will release the advising flag allowing you to register. 
6. To register, go to http://myblue.unk.edu. If you have questions about registering, contact the Registrar’s Office at 308-865-8527. Classes fill up quickly so register ASAP. 
7. Order your textbook(s) from the Antelope Bookstore at 308-865-8555.

**Lab fees may be excluded.
