Background
After graduating with a B.S. in Organizational Communication from this department, I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Kansas where I studied Organizational Communication as well as Interpersonal Communication. My areas of interest and research span both contexts, and include topics such as organizational socialization, organizational culture, leadership, communication of apology, and social support.
Philosophy
We are all stakeholders in organizations and as such, we affect and are affected by organizational decisions every day. Whether our organizational connections are as students, employees, members, consumers, clients, or citizens, we can benefit from understanding the various communication processes that serve to create, maintain, and change social collectives.
Classes
I teach a number of classes within the organizational communication context: Small Group Communication, Leadership Communication, and Theories of Organizational Communication. Additionally, I teach the general studies course, Fundamental Speech Communication.
