Joseph Carlson, Ph.D. has been teaching at UNK since 1993. His experience includes being a deputy sheriff, assistant warden, military police operations officer and chief of police. His areas of teaching specialties are in policing, and terrorism and hostage negotiations. His publications include national research regarding women keeping babies in prison.

Kurt Siedschlaw became associated with the Department of Criminal Justice in 1989. His research and teaching areas include legal studies, corrections, probation, and Native American issues. He is the author of several state sponsored reports, journal articles, and a textbook chapter. Formerly, Professor Siedschlaw practiced law in South Dakota, and is currently licensed in Nebraska. Additionally, he served as a State Parole and Probation agent for the South Dakota Division of Corrections. |

Her primary role is to work with distance and online students who are pursuing their undergraduate degrees in criminal justice through the UNK/UNO online Criminal Justice degree completion program. She has previously worked as a crime analyst in the Internet Crime Against Children and Critical Infrastructure/Homeland Security divisions for the Nebraska State Patrol. |
