I am currently teaching the Introductory Chemistry course and the Physical Chemistrycourse at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  In the past, the courses that I have taught include: Introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II and Analytical Chemistry. I believe it is important to have a clear relationship between lectures, demonstrationsand laboratory experiments. Depending on the class size there are different presentations that are appropriate. In my large lecture class, the demonstrations are dramatic or have a large scale; while in my small lecture class, the demonstrations are more interactive. Laboratory experiments are coordinated with the lecture to reinforce the material covered in lecture. The applications of chemistry have always fascinated me and I strive to pass this on to my students.  My research interests are of gas phase and photochemical reactions of atmospheric importance. The reactions that I studied at NCAR and NOAA typically involved a radical that is created using laser flash photolysis and then the reactant or product is measured using time-resolved resonance fluorescence, time resolved tunable diode laser detection or pulsed laser-induced fluorescence detection.
