Agricultural Business Association

The objective is to provide students with opportunities beyond the classroom and to expand their professional and personal experiences within agriculture.  Membership is open to all UNK students interested in agriculture.  Currently, we are in the process of forming a collegiate FFA Chapter.  If you are interested in becoming a club member or would like more information, please contact one of the Faculty Advisors.

Alpha Eta Rho is a collegiate fraternity founded to bring together those students having a common interest in all fields of the aviation industry.  Alpha Eta Rho serves to bridge the gap between education and industry. 

   

American Marketing Association (AMA)  AMA Logo

The American Marketing Association (AMA) is the premier trade association for marketing professionals. The collegiate chapter at UNK provides students with access to marketing power.com which aids in acquiring internships and careers upon graduation as well as a plethora of educational opportunities. As a collegiate member you will pay $45 (one-time fee) for the national/international dues and $10 (annual) for collegiate dues. Membership provides networking opportunities, educational presentations by professionals in the field, enhancement of your leadership skills, and hands-on volunteer activities that allow you to utilize what you have learned in the classroom. The monthly meetings are in N203 of the West Center Bldg.  The day and time will be determined by the executive committee at the beginning of the academic year. Please watch the AMA bulletin board on the first floor north wing of the West Center for announcements.

The AITP Student organization attracts members who are interested in business and computers.  In addition to monthly campus activities, students are invited to attend and visit with professionals in the MIS field at meetings of their sponsoring AITP organization in Lincoln.

The Construction Management Student Organization (CMO) is involved in many professional and civic activities.  CMO encourages member involvement, increases student opportunities, and broadens student knowledge.  Meetings often include hosting presentations by residential and commercial construction companies or other entities involved in the industry such as land developers or architects.  These presentations provide another avenue to gain information on internships and careers.

Family Studies Organization brings students together to make a difference in the community. Students have done fundraisers and group projects to raise awareness and provide support to organizations in the community including the SAFE Center, Area Agency on Aging, The Food Pantry, and volunteering in the Campus Kitchen during the holidays.

The mission of the Industrial Distribution program is to “prepare people for technical sales positions and future leadership roles”.  IDO is one of the largest student organizations on campus.  Their key principles are teamwork, networking and developing relationships.  IDO is truly the heart and soul of the ID program.

The international honor society in economics is open to all students who have completed at least 12 hours of economics with an average of “B” or better in those courses and an overall minimum grade average of at least 3.0.  The society is open to all qualified UNK students.

PBL is the collegiate division of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).  It is a non-profit student organization devoted to developing competent leaders.  The focus for the organization focuses on service, education, and progress.  Membership in PBL is open to all UNK students.

The Collegiate Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management meets on a regular basis throughout the school year.  The UNK SHRM chapter allows members to develop and expand their managerial skills through the “Professional Operation of the Chapter,” the “Professional Development of Members,” and the “Support of the Profession.”  The chapter brings in a number of speakers to discuss relevant human resource management and general management topics.  Additionally, the chapter tours local businesses, and engages in other professional and social activities.  Participation in SHRM affords students an excellent opportunity for enhancing their management skills and knowledge, meeting industry professionals, and making friends. 

 

Student Interior Design Organization (SIDO)

Student Interior Design Organization connects students to professional organizations such as NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) and ASID (American Society of Interior Design). Students also discuss projects and competitions within the professional organizations.

SIFE is a global, non-profit organization that is literally changing the world through highly dedicated student teams on more than 1,500 university campuses in 37 countries.  SIFE offers UNK students the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through learning, practicing, and teaching the principles of free enterprise.   

 

Telecommunications Networking Organization (TNO)

TNO provides a forum for students of telecommunications to: increase their knowledge of the field of telecommunications, provide for the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas, provide additional experience in telecommunications beyond the classroom, encourage community involvement, provide the opportunity to learn about careers in telecommunications, encourage student participation in telecommunication gatherings on and off campus and to provide another support for student academic achievement in telecommunications.

Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for Financial Information students and professionals. The primary objective of Beta Alpha Psi is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. Membership in Beta Alpha Psi includes those persons of good moral character who have achieved scholastic and/or professional excellence in the fields of accounting, finance, or information systems, who have been initiated by an existing chapter and who remain in good standing.

 Epsilon Pi Tau is an honorary fraternity for women and men who have demonstrated academic excellence in their educational endeavors and show leadership potential in the field of industrial technology.  Epsilon Pi Tau is the honorary into which dynamic qualified women and men have been initiated since its founding in 1929 in recognition of leadership or leadership potential.
