Success Coaching

At UNK, we provide services that promote engagement, encourage success, educate students in what UNK has to offer and empower those students. Success Coaching is a comprehensive program that will empower students and connect them with the resources they need to achieve both academic and personal goals.

What Success Coaching provides

  • Identify what the student wants to achieve
  • Encourage the student to look within to learn more about self
  • Allow/support the student to generate solutions and strategies to problems
  • Teach the student to be responsible and accountable for his/her actions/inactions and decisions

The Nuts in Bolts
Success Coaching is a one-on-one appointment with an assigned Success Coach. You will meet with a Success Coach who will tailor the meeting to your specific needs, situations, and goals. Success Coaches will help you with issues pertinent to success, including but not limited to the following:

  • Time Management
  • Goal Setting
  • Study Skills
  • Financial Awareness
  • Getting to know your faculty
  • Academic Planning
  • Test Preparation
  • Note Taking and Listening
  • Reading
  • Test Taking
  • Memory Improvement
  • Interpersonal and Communication
  • Self-Management

In addition, we are happy to refer you to the various resources available on campus, including Counselling and Health Care, Financial Aid, Learning Commons and Academic and Career Services to name a few.

The Most Important Aspect to Comprehend
Almost anyone can benefit from success coaching! If you feel there is something preventing you from achieving academic success, we can assist. Success coaching is a great resource for modifying existing behaviours and exploring new areas for academic and personal growth.

You will meet one-on-one with your coach for 45-60 minutes; however your encounter can be tailored to you specifically. Prior to the appointment, the coach will send you an e-mail reminder about the meeting.
