Online Peer Tutoring
Supported by a UNK Distance Education grant obtained in 2009, Online Peer
Tutoring facilitates live, real-time assistance for students enrolled in online
classes that we typically tutor face to face.
By using Blackboard Collaborate web-conferencing software, students are able to see, hear and
write to their tutor. An interactive white board space allows tutors to draw
diagrams, equations and models for students to see online as they discuss
material. Tutors also use a Wacom monitor, which facilitates accurate
sketching for courses like math and chemistry.
Online tutoring is available for students taking online or distance courses. These students are
notified directly of the availability of online tutoring services and contact tutors
via email to set up tutoring appointments.
The fall 2013 online tutoring schedule will be available online by Wednesday, September 4.
