Learning Commons Language Tables let UNK students, faculty and
staff enhance their language skills with fun games and
activities in a casual, academic environment.
Language Tables are designed to allow participants to learn common phrases and good
ways to say or describe things in context. Some games used in the
Language Tables are “Taboo” and “Who Am I?”, both of which require
participants to describe people, places, things, and emotions. In other words, Language Tables go way beyond knowing how to ask where the library is in another language! At the
end of the semester, Language Tables often sponsor a “Final Event” with
more competitive games like “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” and
“Jeopardy” that involve prizes!
In Fall 2013, the Learning Commons will offer Language Tables for each of the five languages taught at UNK: Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. Most tables start in the third week of classes! Check back at this website on September 9 to learn when each table will be offered and to meet our Language Table staff members.
