General Objectives Evaluated

  1. the ability to locate and gather information (evaluated by Paper Rubric Q1)
  2. the capability for critical thinking, reasoning and analyzing (evaluated by Paper Rubric Q2)
  3. effective communication skills including the ability to read, speak, and write effectively, using the materials, ideas, and discourse modes of specific academic areas. (evaluated by Paper Rubric Q3; Focus Group Q1-6.)
  4. an understanding of the experiences and values of groups and cultures, which have been historically underrepresented. (evaluated by Paper Rubric Q4; Focus Group Q4)

Personal Development Objectives Evaluated

Direct Measures:
WSTD Analytical Research Paper

 

Objectives  How Assessed   When Assessed   Who Assesses 
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6   All students actively enrolled in WSTD 220 will be assigned at least one Analytical Research Paper which will be assessed with a GS Analytical Research Paper Rubric.  The WSTD 220 paper will be collected and assessed at the end of the semester.  Members of the Women's Studies Advisory Committee who are not instructors of WSTD 220.

General Studies Assessment Plan Timeline

 

Fall2007  2006-2007 GS Assessment Report submitted to Women’s Studies Advisory Council for discussion of Assessment Results and evaluation of the Assessment Process on September 12, 2007. 
  Focus Group Questions for new Indirect Measure will be submitted for approval by WSAC. To be implemented in one section of WSTD 220 Spring 2008. 
  Assessment Exam for New Direct Measure will be submitted for approval by WSAC. To be implemented in one section of WSTD 220 Spring 2008.
Spring 2008  GS Assessment instruments issued, data collected in one Spring 2008 section of WSTD 220.
