Summer Retreat Comments/Minutes
(Morning Session) Present: Schipporeit, Bridges, Moorman, Taylor, Cisler, Daake, Kropp, Powell, & Saldivar Below is an overview of the topic/information covered:

  1. Introduction
    1. Reviewed updated assessment plan draft and made revision suggestions for improvements.
     
  2. Work Schedule
    1. NSSE Data
      1. Examined "cluster objectives" charts with questions linked to objectives
      2. Identified a final list of items to be used as part of assessment process that were linked to GS objectives
      3. Examined data and identified trends, areas of strength, areas of concern, will be complete when "homework" is completed
      4. Brainstormed initiatives for faculty and curriculum development, will be complete when "homework" is completed
      5. Discussed the NSSE administration cycle that is currently being used

      Six points will be used in analyzing the NSSE data in the "homework" which are:
      1. Comparison of UNK Freshmen from 2002 to 2004
      2. Comparison of UNK Seniors from 2002 to 2004
      3. Comparison of Freshmen to Seniors at UNK
      4. Comparison of UNK Freshmen to comparison "peers" meaning Masters institutions only
      5. Comparison of UNK Seniors to comparison "peers" meaning Masters institutions only
      6. Offer conclusions/recommendations/implications

      1. Checked alignment of items across surveys
        See alignment of NSSE and Registrar's surveys document compiled by Dr. Bridges
        1. A comment was made that objective #4 should be reconsidered as separate from CD as a future recommendation/initiative for the GS Council.
         
      2. Perspective/categorical surveys- will be considered for future revisions from the GS Council
       
    2. Review of Departmental Assessment Plans was postponed due to time constraints
