The Assessment Plan:
The Sociology Program is part of the Department of Sociology, Geography, and Earth Sciences at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The merger of the Department of Sociology and the Geography and Earth Sciences Department was completed in the fall of the 2003-2004 Academic Year. The Sociology component of the department carries out the assessment process as a separate entity with its own assessment plan.
The Assessment Plan for Sociology was approved in the during the fall semester of 2002. All data available from that point on is included in this assessment document. Of necessity, some parts of the assessment plan and the data that would be generated from those parts were not available for analysis in this report due to the fact that some of the courses have not yet been established on a regular rotation which is necessary in order to implement particular parts the plan each academic year. This is true for the SOC 468 Senior Seminar class which was held prior to the development and approval of this assessment plan.
The survey of students who have graduated takes place on a five year cycle and it will be several years before that indirect measure of the alumni is conducted. It was most recently completed in the fall of 2001 and was used in the Department Review of that year.
