Counseling and School Psychology Graduate Program Assessment Report 2004: Capstone Experience, Internship

Capstone Experience, Internship: All students are required to successfully complete an internship experience which involves direct field experience in a specialized professional work setting under the supervision of a qualified professional and the Department internship coordinator. Multiple evaluators, including the site supervisor assess the student's effectiveness in demonstrating competence related to learning objective.

Assessment: Interns

Community Counseling    N = 12   X = 4.60    (1 - 5 scale, 5 = high)
School Counseling    N = 31   X = 9.34    (1 - 10 scale, 10 = High)
School Psychology    N = 6   X = 4.61    (1 - 5 scale, 5 = high)

Interpretation and Recommendations:

The results indicate that field placement supervisors rate interns as very effective in meeting the internship competencies and requirements. There is on-going support related to the usefulness of this assessment procedure. The assessment rubric will be reviewed to determine that the instrument used reflects relevant program learning objectives.
