Research/Preparation:
A score of 1 indicates 1) the lack of a clearly stated concept; 2) the absence of appropriate supports or evidence to support concept; and 3) ideas that do not go beyond the most obvious level of analysis. In addition, fails to demonstrate an adequate understanding of script.
A score of 2 indicates one or more of the following: 1) an inadequate or overly obvious concept; 2) inadequate supports or evidence to support that concept; and/or 3) shallow or overly obvious analysis. In addition, demonstrates only a rudimentary understanding of the script.
A score of 3 indicates an adequate concept that shows critical thinking and reading supported by appropriate arguments or evidence but which may fall short of fully demonstrating its claims or may have one or more weak or contradictory points of analysis. In addition, demonstrates an adequate understanding of the script.
A score of 4 indicates a clearly stated, original concept that shows a high level of critical thinking and reading and which is supported by full and appropriate evidence and other pertinent forms of support. In addition, demonstrates a thorough and detailed understanding of the script.
Organization:
A score of 1 indicates three or more of the following: 1) a lack of organization in the prompt script; 2) a lack of a rehearsal schedule; 3) a lack of rehearsal logs; 4) a lack of journal entries documenting the rehearsal process.
A score of 2 indicates one or two of the following: 1) a lack of organization in the prompt script; 2) a lack of a rehearsal schedule; 3) a lack of rehearsal logs; 4) a lack of journal entries documenting the rehearsal process.
A score of 3 indicates 1) sufficient organization in the prompt script; 2) inclusion of a rehearsal schedule; 3) inclusion of rehearsal logs; 4) inclusion of journal entries documenting the rehearsal process.
A score of 4 indicates 1) exceptional organization in the prompt script; 2) inclusion of a highly detailed rehearsal schedule; 3) inclusion of highly detailed rehearsal logs; 4) inclusion of journal entries documenting the rehearsal process and the progression of learning during the process.
Aesthetics:
A score of 1 indicates serious flaws in the following: 1) Blocking/Staging of actors; 2) the use of Design/Tech Elements, including lighting, sound, scenery, properties, or costumes.
A score of 2 indicates noticeable problems in the following: 1) Blocking/Staging of actors; 2) the use of Design/Tech Elements, including lighting, sound, scenery, properties, or costumes.
A score of 3 indicates no more than occasional lapses in the following: 1) Blocking/Staging of actors; 2) the use of Design/Tech Elements, including lighting, sound, scenery, properties, or costumes.
A score of 4 indicates exemplary command of Blocking/Staging of actors and the use of Design/Tech Elements, including lighting, sound, scenery, properties, or costumes.
Communication:
A score of 1 indicates serious problems in clearly communicating with actors and/or designers regarding the production and concept.
A score of 2 indicates occasional problems in clearly communicating with actors and/or designers regarding the production and concept.
A score of 3 indicates a cursory ability to communicate with actors and/or designers regarding the production and concept.
A score of 4 indicates an advanced ability to clearly communicate with actors and/or designers regarding the production and concept.
