NSSE Reports

Since 2000, the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) has been collecting data from students at four-year colleges and universities around the country to assess the extent to which students engage in a variety of educationally effective activities. NSSE is cosponsored by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Pew Forum on Undergraduate Learning. The University of Nebraska at Kearney has participated in the survey in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, and 2010.

The NSSE is designed to obtain, on an annual basis, information from scores of colleges and universities nationwide about student participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. The results will provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college. Survey items on the NSSE represent empirically confirmed "good practices" in undergraduate education.
