History Assessment Exam Rubric

Each exam will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria;

Superior 

  • effective and accurate analysis of historical dimensions of the chosen contemporary affair or event.
  • accurate historical data, appropriately used.
  • accurate recognition and analysis of multicultural themes with significant presentation of information
  • analysis which correctly incorporates global context and dynamics
  • accurate and effective analysis of factors of pluralism, tolerance and democratic principles
  • clear well-established thesis
  • well written and organized logical progression of material.

Good 

  • effective and accurate analysis of historical dimensions of the chosen contemporary affair or event.
  • accurate historical data, appropriately used.
  • recognition and analysis of multicultural themes however somewhat limited in information and brief in analysis.
  • analysis incorporates some global context and dynamics but brief and
    may contain minor errors.
  • well presented analysis of factors of pluralism, tolerance and democratic principles with minor errors or confusion
  • clear well-established thesis
  • well written and organized logical progression of material.

Competent 

  • presence of an analysis of historical dimensions of the chosen contemporary affair or event. May be somewhat obscure but is accurate.
  • historical data is brief but accurate and appropriately used.
  • presence of multicultural themes and information although elementary in in analysis.
  • acknowledgement of global context and dynamics, but not very developed.
  • accurate recognition of factors of pluralism, tolerance and democratic principles. Analysis brief and basic.
  • clear well-established thesis. 
  • Well written and organized logical progression of material.

Poor 

  • some recognition of historical dimensions of the chosen contemporary affair or event, but weak presentation.
  • mix of historical data, some inappropriate.
  • attempt to note multicultural themes and information but serious omissions or misinterpretations.
  • ineffective effort to incorporates global context and dynamics
  • inaccurate and elementary analysis of factors of pluralism, tolerance and democratic principles
  • lack of a clear well-established thesis
  • weak writing and organization, poor presentation of analysis.
