The Honors Program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney is specifically designed for the most academically gifted and motivated of our students. The program offers Honors students a variety of innovative courses and independent study opportunities to nurture extraordinary talent including: smaller, intense, and discussion-driven courses, interdisciplinary and special topics seminars, collaborative research projects with other Honors students and with faculty mentors, and a Senior Study capstone Honors project.
As a result of their participation in the UNK Honors Program, Honors students will:
- Have a higher cumulative GPA than students not in the Honors Program;
- Demonstrate higher retention rates than students not in the Honors Program;
- Demonstrate the ability to form and support a coherent position on an issue or topic, utilizing critical thought, reason, and analysis;
- Demonstrate the ability to use, in writing or multimedia, the forms of reference, the materials, and the ideas of specific academic areas in the manner of discourse appropriate to particular disciplines.
