Beth Hinga, Ph.D.
Director of Assessment for UNK 

Dr. Beth Hinga joined UNK in January of 2013 as the Director of Assessment.   She holds a PhD in Geophysics from Southern Methodist University.  Beth was a faculty member at Tarleton State University in Texas for 16 years, spending the last three years as chair of her department.  At Tarleton State, Beth coordinated program-level academic assessment for the four degree programs in her department, and conducted department-level administrative assessment.  She also served as the department head representative for the College of Science and Technology on the university-level Assessment Committee where she was responsible for the review of academic and administrative assessment materials for multiple colleges within the university.  Her primary goal is to help departments gather the optimum variety and volume of data to inform constructive improvements to their programs, and to the university as a whole.

Karin Covalt
Assessment Assistant

Karin comes to the Office of Assessment with 21 years of administrative experience, serving in the Kearney State College President’s office and the University of Nebraska at Kearney Chancellor's and Senior Vice Chancellor's offices before becoming the Assessment Assistant in 2006. Karin’s duties include overseeing day-to-day operations of the Office of Assessment, assisting the Director of Assessment, and serving as secretary for the Assessment Committee.

Assessment Website Manager

Kim joined the Office of Assessment as a graduate assistant to the Assessment Website Manager in the fall of 2004. Following graduation from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with an M.A. in English, Kim assumed the full responsibilities of the Assessment Website Manager in the summer of 2006.
